Terms (summary)
This page is a plain-language overview for visitors. It does not replace the full in-app Terms of Service that apply when you create an account or use the Application.
What HALLT is
HALLT is an electronic hail platform for licensed Hackney carriage (black cab / ply-for-hire) services. It directly connects passengers requesting a pickup with verified drivers who are available.
What HALLT is not
HALLT is not a private hire operator, not a PH booking office, and not the transport provider. The contract of carriage for a journey is between passenger and driver under the applicable taxi / Hackney rules in that licensing area.
Accounts (summary)
Accounts are for users aged 18+. The app may ask you to self-confirm age when accepting Terms (not an ID check). Customer sign-in uses a mobile number and one-time code for account security — not for marketing, and passenger numbers are not shared with drivers. Passengers may optionally link Google or Apple, submit a photo ID and live selfie, or complete a profile-face match so drivers see trust badges — none of that is required to hail. After ID approve, HALLT keeps the full ID page only for a short period (~30 days) then deletes it; the verification selfie is kept while trust badges remain (see Privacy Policy). Driver sign-up uses email (with verification); incomplete driver sign-ups may be removed after about 24 hours if email is never verified. Full detail is in the in-app Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Drivers
Drivers must hold valid local licensing credentials for the work they do, use the app lawfully (including where they may ply for hire), and complete HALLT verification before relying on availability features (including document checks, Driver Live Verification face checks where required — with explicit consent for face-derived templates used only for identity/security — and, where available, public council register support). Refusing or failing live face checks can block For Hire. Platform fees may apply between drivers and HALLT (including a variable percentage under any Drivers Loyalty Reward Scheme / DLRS described in the full in-app Terms); that is separate from the passenger’s journey fare under taxi rules. Optional district driver message boards are for operational notices only and may be monitored by HALLT. Optional Driver Assist (off by default) may alert a limited number of nearby HALLT drivers with limited identity, vehicle, and location details when a driver asks for peer help — by approximate distance (not only the same licensing district), with no phone number shared through Driver Assist. Driver Assist is not an emergency service; call 999 in a real emergency. After accepting a hail, drivers are expected to make fair progress towards the passenger’s pickup; accepting while unable to do so (for example still engaged on another job, or intentionally delaying) may be treated as a reliability / conduct issue and reviewed using location evidence where retained. Details are in the full in-app Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Passengers
Availability is never guaranteed. Drivers may decline or be unable to complete a hail for lawful operational, licensing, safety, or capacity reasons. Passengers are not charged a journey fare or booking fee by HALLT. Pickup meet / verification codes, where shown, are only to confirm the correct meet at pickup. Where the app offers trip share, you may create a temporary follow link for people you trust (status, vehicle / plate identifiers, pickup and drop-off labels and map pins, live taxi map — not the driver’s display name or photo) — only share with people you trust; the link is temporary and does not publish your phone number. A destination is required to hail. Matching only offers drivers who may lawfully take the hail under HALLT’s district / ply-for-hire rules. HALLT may open support conversations (including moderated threads after reports such as lost property). If you cancel after a driver has accepted because you believe they are delaying or not progressing towards pickup, you may report that in-app; HALLT may keep a short approach location trail for admin review, and your cancel score may stay until that review finishes. The app may also gently offer to block that driver from future searches. While driver details are on screen, the app may discourage screenshots or recording to protect identity details.
Conduct towards HALLT staff
Abuse, harassment, or threats directed at HALLT administrators or staff (in support chat, email, or any related channel) will not be tolerated and may lead to warning, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform. Full detail is in the in-app Terms (clause 9.5).
Account deletion
Where the app offers account deletion, closing an account removes or anonymises your live profile and ends sign-in (For Hire, live GPS, and trip-share links stop). Trip, fee, and safety records may still be retained for legal and integrity purposes. Driver licensing document images (badge, licence, insurance) may be kept for licensing-support and disputes. If you used a Customer mobile login, HALLT may keep a phone-registry binding for that number so it cannot simply create a fresh HALLT account (reopen / unlock is controlled by HALLT). Driver email logins are not reopened with a mobile number. Full detail is in the in-app Terms (clauses 15.3–15.4) and the Privacy Policy.
