The journey is between passenger and driver under Hackney / local licensing rules. HALLT provides the technology that connects you directly — not the transport. Any fare figure in the app is an estimate only; the meter and local tariff decide what you pay.
Collected by a local licensed driver
When you e-hail with HALLT, you are not bidding into a national pool of any car that happens to accept. You are asking for a local licensed Hackney carriage taxi — a real taxi — that is available right now in the area you are hailing from.
That means you will always be collected by a local, knowledgeable, licensed taxi driver: someone who works under the local council’s taxi rules, knows the roads, the ranks, the stations, and the places people actually need to go.
Local licence, local standards
Drivers are checked against the licensing expectations of the district they work in — badge, vehicle, insurance, and related documents — not a freelanced “drive anywhere under any badge” model.

Not the private hire model
Many app-based private hire journeys can be accepted by a driver licensed somewhere else entirely — even a completely different county — working under private hire rules for a local operator, with little local knowledge and different permit requirements than your local Hackney standards. That is a different product. HALLT is not built to import it.
You hail from here → a local licensed taxi that is available and chooses to take the job now → you meet at the kerb → you pay the driver the metered rate under the local tariff.
We do not claim that every driver has lived in the area you are e-hailing from for decades — “local” means licensed and available for the area you hail from, under that area’s taxi rules. App fares are estimates only; you pay the driver the metered rate under the local tariff.

When HALLT is live in your area, you’ll get a clear, direct path to the closest available local licensed taxi — with modern safeguarding that a traditional kerbside hail simply cannot offer. You still take a licensed Hackney journey; HALLT adds verification, accountability, and a record on your phone.

Is HALLT a private hire booking app?

Will I get a local driver — not someone from another county?

Can I book a taxi for later?
No advance booking. HALLT is for now: free, available licensed taxis that choose to take a live hail. That keeps the product aligned with street-hail law and local licensing.
Who sets the fare?
Any figure in the app is an estimate only. The fare is between you and the driver under the meter and local tariff rules. HALLT does not set, collect, or guarantee the journey fare.
Do passengers pay HALLT a fee?
No. Passengers are not charged a journey fare by HALLT. Platform charges (if any) are between HALLT and drivers only.
What about taxi ranks?
